Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my new roof last?
This will depend on many factors. The base architectural shingle will last 30 years in an ideal environment. In East Texas, weather and foliage affect that approximation to varying degrees depending on the situation. A steeper roof will last longer because it will have less overall interaction and impact when it comes to hail and direct sunlight.
How will long will it take you to complete the roof replacement or installation?
Typically a job requires approximately 30 squares. On average, a 2,000 square foot home will take 1-2 days depending on the pitch of the roof.
Does the color of my roof affect the temperature of my house?
There is very negligible difference in how the color of your roof affects the climate inside of your room because they both use the same matting. The color difference is only applied in the final coating of the shingle.
Which is more expensive, a metal roof or shingles?
When doing a complete tear-off and installing new metal, it is more expensive than the average shingle roof. However, if your roof is not in too bad of a shape, you can elect to install a metal layover, which ends up being similar to the full cost of a shingle replacement.
How much will I have to pay out-of-pocket on an insurance claim?
If insurance has completely covered your roof, then you will only be responsible for the deductible and any upgrades that you would like to add to the covered scope of work.
Why did you change your name from Simply Roofing & Solar to Simply Construction?
More recently, we found ourselves encountering more opportunities for remodels, patios, pergolas, etc. so we decided to expand our service offering. We decided to no longer include solar in our skillset for various reasons.
How long will I have to file a claim for storm damage?
The window to file a claim is 1 year from the date of loss. Once the claim is approved, the work must be completed in a timeframe specific to the insurance company's policy for each specific customer. We recommend filing an extension if the customer thinks they might not be able to complete the work within their policy's particular window.
Will hail damage really cause my roof to leak?
Depending on the significance of the hail size, the damage can cause an immediate leak or eventually occur after multiple years. Smaller hail can damage matting and over time create moisture that will damage the area after continual exposure to the elements. It is important to consider the 1-year expiration of filing an insurance claim when reviewing your options.
